Polymorphic, rebellious, feminine, spicy, unusual, anti-conformist, contextualized, always in motion: what is Gwladys Gambie’s approach?

The name MOFWAZÉ means “metamorphosed” in Creole. As its name indicates, this Creole legend refers to people who are able to transform themselves at night! Here we are talking about subtle MOFWAZÉ, coming from our legends, our lives and the sensory, tactile and artistic experiences of the artist.

The figure of Manman Chadwon is inspired by the sea deity Manman Dlo in Martinique, but also by the sea urchin called in Creole “chadwon”. It is a mythology, featuring a female creature, round, free, both vulnerable and powerful. She is the representation of the black woman in all her beauty, her poetry, her strangeness and her complexity.
